The February 13 culminating affair was truly a hair-down thing ....a night of unending songs, belly laughter, sumptuous food, flowers and a shower (or shall I say a tornado) of certificates (I heard the Dean suffered from arthritis from having to sign them all). Seeing the 13 tables filled up, gave me the impression that the students have somehow come a long way overcoming the crazy fear that med school is, especially around this time. It has always been pleasant having gatherings that celebrate the students' extra-curricular successes, but this one was so far the most candid. The spirit of belonging was most evident.
Kudos to the Student Council (Mr. Jeff Villegas et al) for making this possible. and pushing thru with it in the face of budget deficits. Thanks to Dr. Cid for staying late enough to give a very impromptu, 'brief' (of course according to him), and inspiring talk in place of Fr. Alberic... to Dr. Rex for gracing the occasion, still sweating from their basketball game... to Brother Anton who had to come all the way from a Tagaytay retreat... to our ever supportive support staff Maryann 1, Maryann 2, John & Ron, and to the students from ALL 3 year levels despite their toxicities.
